Why join ISDCI
ISDCI is a moderately sized, welcoming, and friendly scientific Society. Our meetings bring together scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and students from around the world whose interests include the immune or internal defence systems in a wide range of organisms. The Society is a vehicle through which this diverse community can meet, interact, and collaborate. Benefits of being a member include reduced registration rates at the triennial international Congresses, opportunities for travel bursaries for student and postdoctoral members to attend these Congresses, free on-line access to the Society journal, Developmental and Comparative Immunology, and regular news updates through the Society electronic newsletter.
The more members we have, the stronger we stand! If you have not done so, please encourage your students, postdocs, and associates to become members of the Society. Enquiries about memberships should be sent via the website to the ISDCI Secretary-Treasurer, Dr. Jason W. Holland.
Members profit from access to the members only part of the website which provides, among other benefits, interesting photos from our triennial international meetings, front covers of historical issues of the DCI journal, and addiitonal interesting facts and figures related to the Society.
The early days
Below a short sound track from a course entitled “Cell Cooperation in Immunobiology” that was published in 1974 by Elsevier / North-Holland / Excerpta Medica, Amsterdam. This course consisted of a series of approximately 30 slides and a cassette tape with the spoken text by Brian Solomon. It illustrates what we knew about immunology around the time that ISDCI was founded. Moreover, it shows that Brian Solomon was an internationally recognized immunologist 40-45 years ago.
